Esterification is a chemical reaction in which an ester forms from an acid and an alcohol with the elimination of water. These acids may be either organic, such as acetic acid, benzoic acid and citric acid or inorganic, such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid or phosphoric acid. Esters are found in a large number of molecules and can be found in fats as glycerol or fatty acids, in biodiesel as methyl esters of fatty acids, in bee wax as myricyl alcohol or as polyester, which are used as materials or plastics.

Background
Ester – used everywhere.
In the ester production process, the chemical reaction and the distillation are combined into one process–reactive distillation. Ester can be formed by a reaction with alcohols and acids or acid derivatives. In the classical sense, ester is formed by a mixture of an alcohol and a carboxylic acid with another acid as a catalyst. The resulting reaction is known as esterification.
Esters are often present in food, biodiesel or flavorings. However, they are also found in soaps, detergents, fabric softeners, glycerin, shoe polish, PVC, surfactants, crop protection or in heart medicines, such as beta-blockers. You will also find a variety of uses as fragrances and aromatic substances.
